Video Poker Rules for Beginners

VIDEO POKER

If you can't withstand the pressure of poker, but you love the game so much, then you should consider video poker. In fact, while some players revel in playing poker under pressure and high stakes, others can not bear to be continually observed, dissected or simply cannot stand the stress of playing against other players in a game of luck and skill. If you want to cut off the luck from the game to rely solely on your ability, then video poker will work for you. This ingenious casino game has all the fun of a traditional game of poker in a computerized version.

In a classic casino, it may take a little time to recognize the video poker machines. They resemble, in effect, slot machines, because of their square shape and jackpots, but online the differences become much clearer and, more importantly for fans of poker, there's really no better way to appreciate video poker: completely alone against the odds.

All poker games are based on the main root game, known as "five card draw".  Since video poker games in themselves represent an electronic version of poker, playing video poker in an online casino is virtually identical to the live experience. Like any casino game, you bet and begin playing. However, unlike traditional poker, where players bet in different amounts and different turns, in video poker you place a single bet, with a set amount and a maximum and minimum number of credits before the beginning of the hand. To bet, you press the button labeled "Deal" and start the hand.

The video poker monitor usually shows the classic green felt, but when playing alone, without competition, the only cards visible are the player's cards. You receive five cards, which are placed on the screen. You then have the opportunity to discard up to a maximum of three cards that will be replaced by others in the deck.  If you are holding a winning hand, then the machine will credit your winnings. Conversely, if you lose, the game keeps the bet and lets you try again.

In traditional poker, players can bluff and win, without having good cards, but video poker eliminates this variable. In most video poker games, the player must have at least a pair of jacks to get a payoff.  Furthermore, in some versions there are bonuses that allow for additional payouts if the player special hands, while other versions give away a cumulative prize or jackpot.  There are still other video poker variations, like "Deuces Wild", where players can use a 2 ("deuce") in place of any other card in the deck.

To win at video poker, you must understand the basic rules of poker and game strategy and implement this knowledge while playing. The basic idea is to keep the cards that offer the best prospects and possibility of creating better hands. The only exception to this rule applies when a player wants a bonus or particular prize, but these cases are quite rare and affect only the professionals who have substantial bankrolls and an excellent knowledge of the suitable moments of the game where the odds are in their favor.

When you play in an intelligent and crafty manner, you can easily take home big winnings. To make even more money, look for video poker games that offer the best payouts and take full advantage of the signup bonus and other online bonuses.  With the bonus money, you can continue to play for "free" and still make money for yourself.
