Basic Blackjack Rules and Strategy

BLACKJACK

While the basics of blackjack are incredibly easy to learn, playing well can be much more difficult. Blackjack has the advantage that the profit margin for the house is very low, which can be reduced even further by the player implementing a perfect strategy. It is precisely these two elements, namely the simplicity of the game and a good chance of winning, which made blackjack incredibly popular. Our experts at Luxurypoker.info want you to know that you no longer need to travel to Las Vegas or Monte Carlo to enjoy the thrill of blackjack. With our helpful, informative pages on the rules and strategies of the game, you can start playing well when you finish reading!

First, you must have a computer and an internet connection. It is likely, however, that you already have both if you're reading this page.

Secondly, you must choose a reputable online casino. You can find more information on how to choose the best casino right here at Luxurypoker.info.  If you play for real money, do not forget to insert the online casino's bonus code along with your first deposit to receive extra bonus cash.

After your first deposit is accepted or after you create a personal account to play at the free tables, you can proceed to the virtual casino.  Most sites show a direct link to blackjack, but many casinos can have different tables for different variations of the game (like "Double Attack", "Double Exposure" and "Blackjack Switch").  You can also choose to play with other members or have a table all to yourself.

The software will ask all players to place their bets.  To do so, click your mouse on the desired amount of chips and move them into the betting area.  The game begins when the "dealer" places two cards face up in front of each player, one card face down and one face up in front of himself.  The dealer takes these cards from the classic deck of 52 cards.

Each card has the value of their number, except the face cards, which are worth 10.  An ace can be worth either 1 or 11, depending on the situation.  A hand with an ace and a ten-value card (ten or face card) is called a "natural" blackjack.  The object of the game is to get a combination of cards whose score is closer to 21 than the dealer, without going over.

You can still reach 21 with a series of combinations of other cards. If you are satisfied with the value of the first two cards you can stop (“stand”).  If you believe your score is too low, you may want to take another card ("hit"), in which case the dealer gives you an additional card. You can continue to hit until you decide to stop or you go over 21 ("bust").

If you receive two cards of the same value (e.g. a pair of aces), then you also have the option to split your pair into two hands. To do this, you must also double the initial bet, and then the dealer will separate the cards and add a card to each one, forming two hands.

You can also choose to "double down", in which case you double the bet, but do not divide the cards.

In some casinos there is also the possibility to "surrender": the player loses his hand after receiving first two cards and is returned half the original bet.
